Postdoctoral position, two years (start Oct.2018)
IRIBHM institute, Faculty of Medicine, Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Brussels
Our group is interested in stem cells of the digestive tract and their role in development, homeostasis and regeneration. It is one of the units of the multidisciplinary research institute IRIBHM engaged in a variety of projects dealing with developmental, cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and neuroscience.
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to join our group. The research project is focused on the intestinal and gastric epithelia, which are amongst the epithelia with highest self-renewing capacity in adult mammals and therefore represent an excellent model system to study stem cell biology. The aim of the project is to dissect the molecular mechanisms associated with the biological function of the adult stem cell markers Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptors (Lgr4/ Lgr5) in the context of tumor development. This will be addressed by combination of studies using in vivo mouse models and the ex vivo three-dimensional culture system.
We are looking for PhD-holder candidates with significant theoretical and practical background in molecular and cell biology, genetics and biochemistry. Experience in the GPCR field and/or in oncological mouse models would be an advantage. The candidate should have excellent independent organizational skill as well as strong collaborative abilities. A good level of written and spoken English is mandatory.
